Life with the Kardashians: Another Day, Another Divorce

In sad but not unexpected news, Khloe Kardashian filed for divorce from her husband of four years in December. 

The Kardashian clan has had its share of marital trouble in recent years. Married in a high-profile celebrity wedding to Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian moved to end her marriage within months of the ceremony. Ms. Kardashian then gave birth to a child of partner Kanye West and became engaged to him in October 2013. The same month, Kris Jenner, matriarch of the Kardashian clan announced divorce from her husband of 22 years, Bruce Jenner. 

In early December, Kloe Kardashian filed for divorce from Lamar Odom after months of speculation in the media. Amid rumors of drug use and infidelity on the part of Mr. Odom, Ms. Kardashian recently told media outlets, “I need a good fresh start.” 

Ms. Kardashian's divorce may move quickly given the following points: 

• There are no children of the marriage. Mr. Odom's two children are from his previous relationship with Liza Morales.
• The couple is reported to have executed a prenuptial agreement prior to marriage. 

As noted by Ms. Kardashian, couples and individuals pursuing marriage or divorce are usually looking for a fresh start. Whether starting a relationship or ending one, it is human nature to make plans to build or deconstruct an environment and a life that works or feels better. The Kardashian clan, with all its characters, is a good example of this forward movement.
