Robin Thicke and Paula Patton: Blurred Lines

Singer Robin Thicke and actress Paula Patton face an uncertain marital future in light of media revelations about the questionable behavior of Mr. Thicke. Celebrity or not, most marriage relationships are strained when evidence that suggests infidelity surfaces. 

Last August, a raunchy stage performance between Twerking queen Miley Cyrus and Mr. Thicke raised more than eyebrows. Onstage and off, the media had a field day with the actions of Mr. Thicke, including an unfortunate photograph revealing Mr. Thicke with a firm grip on the behind of a 20-year old blonde. 

In response, Paula Patton pushed for a split. In February, the couple mutually announced they were separating after 22 years together, nine of them as a married couple. 

The son of thrice-married Canadian actor, Alan Thicke, Mr. Thicke is reportedly pursuing reconciliation. Sources close to Ms. Patton say she is through. 

If the case proceeds toward divorce, considerations for this couple include: 

• With a three-year old son, appropriate parenting time, custody and child support arrangements must be made.
• The couple reportedly does not have a prenuptial agreement. Without an agreement, California community property laws call for an even split of the marital estate.
• The couple has significant wealth obtained over a long-term relationship. Mr. Thicke has an estimated economic worth of $15 million, while Ms. Patton has approximately $3 million.
